6 May 2018 - Iran’s crude steel exports up 84% in a year



Iran exported 6.872 million tons of crude steel in the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20), with 84-percent growth from the figure of its preceding year, according to the data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

IMIDRO data also indicate that the country’s exports of steel products stood at 1.623 million tons in the past year, showing 10-pecent fall from the year before, IRIB news reported on Saturday. Iran produced 21.884 million tons of crude steel and 19.776 million tons of steel products in the past year, indicating 19 percent and 9 percent rise, respectively, year on year. Iranian Industry, Mining and Trade Minister Mohammad Shariatmadari, on Saturday, announced that the country’s steel production in the first quarter of 2018 has risen 47 percent from the figure of the same period of time in 2017. It is while steel production in the world has witnessed just 4.1-percent growth during the first three months of this year, the minister underlined.
